We Indians usually don’t like and don’t accept the changes in presentation of our mythology and if it is done without attractive creativity and logic, it has to fail.
This is what we experience with the MX Player series Ramyug. Though presented with special effects and adding animation and spending much on technology, it doesn’t appeal. It is disappointing when we start watching with much curiosity. The story starts as Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman are in the jungle but it takes much time to tell ‘how’ and ‘why’?
When we see Ravana for the first time with his ten heads circling and talking to him, seems funny. It is one of the big mistakes to show such an important character in such away. Rama and Lakshman with a beard cannot be digested by Indians and the roles played by non – attractive actors spoil the series.
There is no need even to introduce the cast and crew of Ramyug. If you want Ramayana with an intellectual presentation or want kids and the younger generation to know teachings and stories in it, just watch Ramayan of 1986 by Ramanand Sagar.
